- Tens whose parents take an interest in them are less likely to drop out. Ask your son or daughter how his or her day was, and make sure he or she knows you're interested!
- Get involved iwth your children's school and afterschool activities, helping to ensure they are making good choices all along the way.
Let your state congressional officials know that you support the United Way public policy agenda for 2011, which focuses on:
- A multi-disciplinary Children's Cabinet under the leadership of the Governor to align policy and programs affecting children, youth and families.
- Expanding Pre-K opportunities for every parent wishing to enroll his and her 4-year-old.
- Affordable early child care and education opportunities of high quality for children from birth through age 3.
- After-school programs that promote health and fitness as well as academic and social skills among children and youth.
- Effective school disciplinary laws and rules that protect every child's ability to achieve academic success.
