United Way utilizes strategies that are likely to create a measurable impact in our community.
These strategies set the framework for establishing partnerships with individuals and organizations to
develop lasting change in our region.
United Way 2009–2010 Investment process:

This year the United Way Board of Directors charged the Community Investments Committee to evaluate the 2009-10 investment
process to ensure it continues to meet our high standards of stewardship, while factoring in
concerns about our grantee partners being pulled extraordinarily thin. As a result, for 2009-10
Community Impact Fund grants, we are implementing a streamlined process.
Grantees will be required to complete an application, which will also serve as a mid-year report.
Additionally, volunteers will carefully scrutinize each application, and will conduct on-site
visits when necessary. Grant applications will be available starting on December 1 and will be due on
January 30. As is the case each year, volunteers will carefully review the applications.
Our fundraising efforts, currently underway, will greatly affect the amount available
to invest through the Community Impact Fund.
Unfortunately, we are not able to consider applications for new programs at this time.
Our United Way also supports nonprofit organizations through Gifts In Kind Atlanta,
which helps nonprofit organizations access donations of furniture, office supplies and
other items. Nonprofit organizations can search for volunteers through Volunteer Solutions,
find well-trained board members through the Volunteer Improvement Program and use
United Way 2-1-1 to both get and give client referrals.
Use this page to find the information and forms needed to begin the application process for funding.
