Agency Updates

It is very important for United Way 211 to provide a quality service to our callers and to the organizations in our database. One manner in which we do this is by maintaining accurate and current information about each agency and its programs. If your agency has made any changes whether is on the service hours, service area, services offered, etc., we ask that you contact us and let us know. The more accurate the referrals we give out to our callers, the better we all can serve them.

Keep in mind that if you would like to have your agency spotlighted on this newsletter or if you want to order a FREE 211 report, all you have to do is update your agency information.

If you need to request a password so that you can update your agency information online, or to request a copy of your agency record contact Nhora Plehn at 404.614-6248 or by email uw211_emailupdates@unitedwayatlanta.org

    Girls Incorporated of Greater Atlanta is one of the state’s leading voices for girls; serving Girls in the Atlanta area for 30 years. With our research based, educational and interactive programming, we give girls the skills necessary to address the challenges associated with the societal messages regarding their personal value and worth.

    For the seventh year, Girls Incorporated of Greater Atlanta will host a Girls Summit on the beautiful campus of Agnes Scott College ( DeKalb County). This year’s summit will focus on media literacy. This summit will help girls develop the skills necessary to wade through the media messages that bombard them daily. Attendees will have an opportunity to hear inspirational speakers and attend a wide array of workshops led by national and local youth development experts.

    In addition to workshops, panel discussions and fellowship, girls will have access to three, $2,500.00 scholarship awards sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company. The Strong, Smart and Bold Awards will be presented to 3 deserving young women who exemplify these characteristics. Award funds may be used to support plans for secondary education or entrepreneurial ventures.

    We are extending this invitation to all 6-18 year old female students to join us October 18, 2007, on the campus of Agnes Scott College from 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM.   • to be themselves and to resist gender stereotypes;

  • to express themselves with originality and enthusiasm;

  • to take risks, to strive freely and to take pride in success;
