Winning the prestigious Logan Cup is a fun way for Atlanta area law firms to raise the motivational bar on their community outreach efforts.
The Logan Cup is named in honor of Atlanta attorney Joseph C. Logan, who pioneered organized community giving efforts in the early 1900s and founded what would eventually become United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta.
The award is given each year to the law firm that demonstrates the highest generosity of spirit and civic commitment in its annual United Way campaign. The winner is determined through evaluation of a number of factors including civic involvement, per capita giving, leadership giving, and percentage of participants, making it possible for any size firm to achieve victory.
More than 40 law firms from across the Atlanta region competed for the Logan Cup in 2002. Collectively, those firms raised $2.6 million, up 20 percent from 2001.
