LINC: How has United Way LINC helped you?
As an Atlanta native, I love my city through and through. However, I began thinking about how I reciprocate said feeling. Considering my level of concern for my city, then comparing it to my actions, my list of volunteer projects was not long enough. UW LINC ATL has helped me to expand on answering the question, “What have you done for your city lately?”

LINC: What do you think are your greatest personal accomplishments?
My greatest personal accomplishments are comprised of actions predicated upon making a positive impact on the people around me. From volunteer projects around the city, sharing knowledge, to making someone smile. Creating positive energy is my greatest accomplishment.

LINC: What do you think are your greatest professional accomplishments?
James: Like my greatest personal accomplishments, my greatest professional accomplishments are one in the same. It’s all about positive energy. Also, it’s about being a resource to others. It feels great to know people trust me enough share their problem and seek my advice. Within every interaction, I always ask myself, “How can I be of value?”

LINC: Why do you choose to give to United Way of Greater Atlanta?
James: I choose to give because I see firsthand the impact my contributions has on the city. UWGA plays an integral role in the city becoming a better Atlanta, and they continue to move the needle.

LINC: What’s your biggest concern within the community?
James: Death. People die everyday from preventable causes (e.g. hunger, homelessness, etc.) which can easily be resolved through education and access to resources. Reasons why I continue to contribute through LINC are because they tackle all of these issues through their initiatives.

LINC: What would you tell someone who is considering joining LINC?
James: Come join us! We all have it within ourselves to change the world, but imagine the impact we would have if we came together as a united front. There is strength in numbers. Join today.

LINC: What is your favorite LINC event or experience and why?
James: My favorite event was LINC’s Day of Innovation. It’s a perfect example of people of all backgrounds coming together under one banner to achieve a common goal, which will make a positive impact to the masses. It was great to collaborate on ideas with other minds and to create solutions to problems nonprofits face.

LINC: What are your hobbies/interests?
James: I love connecting with nature. I find inner peace exploring the great outdoors. I enjoy climbing Stone Mountain and running on the Atlanta Beltline. The Northside Trail is my favorite.

LINC: Who in the world (past or living) do you most admire and why?
James: I admire my parents the most. They only consist of a small percentage of the village that raised me, but they are the most important. I admire their strengths, intelligence, and the sacrifices they made for me to be the man I am today. They are incredible!
