“I’m often asked, ‘why United Way?’ To answer that question, I use lyrics from a song:
Life is not tried it is merely survived if you’re standing outside the fire.
What’s that mean? Well, it’s easy to stand outside the fire and judge and say someone should do ‘this’ or ‘that’ or ‘I would have done ‘this’ instead.’ But it takes special individuals, special groups and special organizations to advocate and have the courage to jump inside that fire and push back those flames that are hindering our neighbors and the overall Child Well-Being of our communities.
United Way of Greater Atlanta is our community firefighter who’s doing just that.
United Way is a voice for those who feel they have no voice. They are THE non-profit that is creating generational change across our communities.
I am proud to stand alongside United Way while we extinguish those flames.”
This is why I decided to become a Legacy Leader with United Way. Allowing me to ensure my passion for creating generational change in our communities will continue for generations to come.
