Initiative for Affordable Housing

Mission: To provide permanent, affordable housing to homeless and low-income families. Also committed to providing individualized social services and employment that empower families to reach personal goals and achieve independence.
Meets: Meets six times per year. 4th Thursday of meeting month (May, June, August, October, January, March) 6:30 -8:30 p.m.
Skills: Fundraising, PR/Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Business Planning
Budget: $2,800,000
Financial Commitment: $1,000

 

Second Helpings Atlanta, Inc.

Mission: Driving out hunger one mile at a time. Since 2004, our volunteer army of drivers have been picking up surplus food from restaurants, grocery stores, corporate dining halls, farmers markets and schools and delivering it to the front-line agencies that feed the hungry every day in the Metro Atlanta area.
Meets: Meets six times per year in Sandy Springs (Wednesday evenings)
Skills: Open
Budget: $330,000 Cash; 1.5mm pounds donated food.
Financial Commitment: $2,500 directly, or through solicitations of friends, to SHA income; minimum personal contribution of $100 by July 1st.

 

Engineering for Kids of Metro Atlanta

Mission: To provide a high quality and enriching educational experience that targets 21st century student outcomes for elementary and middle school students in the Metro Atlanta area. As a result, students will be equipped with strong core knowledge and skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Meets: Six times per year
Skills: Open to all.
Financial Commitment: Make an impactful personal contribution to the organization.
