When children thrive, communities thrive. That’s why United Way of Greater Atlanta is hosting Day of Action Saturday, June 22. During Day of Action, communities across Greater Atlanta will come together to harness the volunteer spirit and improve the conditions where children and families live.

Volunteer Locations

Truly Living Well
Truly Living Well is an urban farm providing natural and organic produce and farmer training to local Atlanta community. Volunteer groups work in teams to assist with basic farm chores, such as mulching pathways, turning and weeding garden beds, sifting soil and working the compost.

Center For Children & Young Adults
The mission of The Center for Children & Young Adults (CCYA) is to provide a safe and nurturing environment with comprehensive services for homeless youth and young adults who have been abused, abandoned, neglected, or are at risk. Volunteer efforts will be focused on grounds beautification – gardening, planting, weeding, etc. – and the reorganization of storage areas.

Lost-N-Found Youth
Lost-N-Found Youth is an Atlanta, Georgia based nonprofit that exists to end homelessness for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ+) and all sexual minority youth. Volunteers will assist Lost-N-Found Youth employees with processing and sorting the intake of donated items to the store.

Foster Care Support Foundation
Foster Care Support Foundation  serves a vital and growing need throughout Georgia by providing free clothing, infant equipment and developmental toys to thousands of children in foster and relative care.

Volunteers will sort and restock clothing and other donations at the distribution center.

MUST Ministries – Save-It-Forward
MUST Save It Forward’s mission is to eliminate hunger for at-risk students in local schools, giving them a greater opportunity to succeed in school and life. Volunteers are needed to sort through food donations, stock shelves, and serve families.

Oak View Elementary
Volunteers are needed to complete multiple indoor beautification projects at Oak View Elementary school in Dekalb County. Projects include a teachers lounge makeover, reading nook creation, and painting hallways and bathrooms.
