The Tree of Love is a holiday celebration to assist children living in DeKalb who because of their circumstances — foster care, single-parent household, low income household, etc., may not have a Merry Christmas. The community is invited to come out and adopt a child’s name from the Tree of Love. Each year individuals and community, religious, fraternal and civic organizations select names of kids and their wish lists from the Tree of Love Christmas Tree in the Gallery at South DeKalb, purchase the gifts, and wrap and return them to the mall during the Tree of Love Closing Ceremony, set this year for Dec. 15. Organized by Commissioner Larry Johnson.
