An Out Teach Big Dig is a day for volunteers to transform an empty school yard into an engaging outdoor learning lab for a school community. Under the direction of Out Teach staff, volunteers will install a variety of learning and aesthetic features:
Vegetable and perennial beds
Rainwater harvesters, compost bins and water features
Earth science stations and animal habitats
Seating areas, fencing and whiteboards
At the end of the day, teachers will have an outdoor learning lab to begin a 2-year training program to help them get students out of their desks to breathe fresh air, get their hands dirty and learn by doing!
Attire: Old clothing
Lunch will be provided.
Volunteers should bring water or other personal comfort items needed.
The rain date will be Wednesday April 10.
