For more than 20 years, United Way of Greater Atlanta has been working with our community to make Fulton County a great place to live and work. As leaders in the community and ambassadors of United Way’s mission, we would like to share some of the highlights of what we’ve been able to accomplish with you this year, and how agency partners and community leaders have played key roles in our work.
United Way’s vision for Fulton County is to create a thriving community. We know communities can reach their greatest future potential if our children are doing well. That’s why our focus is on building a Fulton County where every individual and family can prosper by making sure every child has the opportunity to reach his or her potential.
We believe child well-being is measured by a multitude of factors that strongly influence outcomes and a series of actions we can take that can change outcomes for the better. Communities that can say, “all the children are well” have babies that are born healthy; are living in safe neighborhoods, children reading proficiently by 3rd grade, students who graduate from high school and are ready for college, careers and life. All should be supported by communities where people are educated, employed, and housed; with ready access to good healthcare and affordable healthy foods.
The United Way Impact Fund is one of the many dedicated channels that ensures lasting, collaborative solutions to the critical problems that stand between us and a better quality of life. Impact Fund dollars are invested where you live and work in Fulton County and address the most pressing social issues of our county. The value of your donation to United Way’s Impact Fund is multiplied many times over by United Way’s powerful resources and used to create a lasting impact on communities.
We invite you to spend time with this report to learn more about our work. You may also visit unitedwayatlanta.org for more information and find out how to get involved. Information obtained from our 2-1-1 Contact Center is critical to maintaining a connection to the needs of each community United Way serves. 2-1-1 connects people, 24/7, to the resources necessary to address everyday challenges of living, as well as those that develop during times of emergencies. Last year, 2-1-1 received 7,984 contacts from Fulton County, and the top 5 needs are shown below.
Trained volunteers are charged with ensuring that our agency partners are meeting the goals set for our community in the areas of education, income, health and homelessness. This ensures that donor contributions are invested wisely in programs that are improving the lives of Fulton County residents in need.
