Kids Home Initiative is a comprehensive solution to help families avoid or escape homelessness, regain secure and successful futures, and keep their children in school.

The Issue

In Greater Atlanta, in the Austell and Clarkston area schools alone, more than 30 percent of the kids are homeless, and therefore at risk of falling behind in school.

United Way's Role

United Way helps link housing assistance, public school system resources and case management services to provide integrated support for the whole family to help children at risk of being homeless regain security and stay in school.

The Results

To date, the Kids Home Initiative has assisted more than 300 families by connecting them to case management services and working with them to establish housing stability, connection to benefits and emergency assistance.
